Abdulla Anees

I am Abdulla Anees, a public sector leader and finance professional with over a decade of experience in government administration, institutional governance, policy development, and financial management in the Maldives. I currently serve as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Homeland Security & Technology, where I contribute to strategic oversight, digital transformation, and cross-government coordination in support of national progress and effective public service delivery.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve in a range of leadership and administrative roles across both the public and private sectors. My previous appointments include Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment, Head of the Maldives National Institute of Sports, and Chair of the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency. These roles enabled me to contribute to important national initiatives, institutional strengthening, and policy reform, including the National Spatial Plan 2020–2040 and the Strategic Action Plan 2019–2023.

Beyond government, I have also worked in finance, administration, and corporate leadership, including as Project Accountant and Administrator for the JW Marriott Maldives Resort Project under Bon Free Pvt Ltd, as well as in roles at the Maldives Monetary Authority, Bank of Maldives, RELLS Pvt Ltd, and Dhiconomy Pvt Ltd. These experiences have shaped my approach to leadership, grounded in accountability, practical execution, and long-term value creation.

I am currently pursuing ACCA as part of my continued professional development, with focused study in accounting, law, management, finance, and performance. I remain deeply interested in governance, economics, digital transformation, strategic planning, and organizational development.
